Haarslev poultry rendering line in an industrial processing plant

Rendering for poultry operations

Turn the by-products from your poultry processing — carcasses, bones, offal, feathers, fat and blood, none of it intended for human consumption — into proteins, minerals and oils you can sell. Haarslev helps you recover that value with equipment, automation and service support built for steady operation.

Poultry processing produces three very different by-product streams — meat, bones and offal; feathers; and blood — each with its own processing requirements and its own end-markets.

We configure rendering lines around each of those streams, so you recover the maximum value from every kilo: higher end-product quality, lower energy use per tonne, and meal and fat grades that open up better-paying markets in pet food, aquafeed and livestock nutrition.

The Outputs You Work With

Whatever comes off your line, there's a route to a commercially valuable product.

Here's how we help you get there — by output stream.

Stream One

Meat, bones and offal→ poultry by-product meal and fat

Your meat, bones and offal become poultry by-product meal (PBM) and poultry fat — high-protein, highly digestible ingredients valued in pet food, aquafeed and broiler diets.

连续干式炼脂

A reliable, high-capacity process that keeps your operating costs low.

分批式干法炼油

A versatile route for handling all of your raw materials, well suited to lower volumes and to sterilisation requirements.

Continuous pre-cooking and batch sterilisation

High evaporation capacity, with less need to reduce particle size first.

Continuous low-temperature wet rendering

Reduced steam consumption and lower operating costs, with better quality in both your meal and your fat.

Dewatering using waste heat

More dewatering capacity for less energy, and with less environmental impact.

Stream Two

羽毛→ feather meal

In hydrolysis, keratin-rich feathers are broken down under heat and pressure into a digestible protein. With direct hydrolysis, steam is injected straight into the material for fast, even heat transfer. With indirect hydrolysis, heat is transferred through the vessel wall without direct steam contact, producing a drier product that is more economical to dry downstream. After hydrolysis, the material is dried, typically in a Haarslev disc dryer or ring dryer, into a stable, storable feather meal: a valuable, high-protein ingredient for animal feed. Higher digestibility earns a higher price, so the process you choose has a direct effect on what your meal is worth.

Batch hydrolysation

Straightforward and reliable, normally best for low-to-medium-capacity operations.

Continuous indirect hydrolysation

A continuous process suited to medium-to-high capacities.

Continuous direct hydrolysation

An energy-efficient, medium-to-high-capacity process. Add evaporators to lift yield further and improve feather-meal quality.

Stream Three

Blood→ blood meal

Your poultry blood — typically 16–18% protein solids — becomes blood meal: a high-lysine ingredient for non-ruminant feed, or a nitrogen-rich fertiliser for higher-value markets. Removing more than half the water mechanically, before any drying, keeps the energy cost down.

Coagulation and dewatering

Steam-injection coagulation followed by mechanical separation takes out the bulk of the water before drying.

Continuous drying

Gentle, controlled drying that protects protein quality.

Premium spin-flash drying (IDX)

For high-digestibility blood meal that commands a premium price.
